All the place names in Southern California are familiar to me. Not because I got an A+ in Southern California geography in Syosset High School. It’s from watching The Price is Right and Love Connection. Contestants on these shows came from places like Paso Robles, Anaheim, Thousand Oaks and San Bernardino. Exotic places to a kid on Long Island.
I also learned from Love Connection that a perfect date is watching the grunion run (whatever the hell that is) and then heading out to Catalina Island. Everyone would say that’s their perfect date.
Every time a California Highway Patrol motorcycle passes I get a little boner thinking it’s Erik Estrada.
