I found out an unfortunate piece of news about a classic Mercedes 300 SL Gullwing, so I ran as fast as I could to tell the Mercedes people, because I’m such a little yenta.
William Vetter, a product manager of the current AMG gullwing, was good enough to listen to me tattle tale. But, this is a car guy and he even ran his own shop. He’s heard of worse stories and feels bad enough for having crashed one of his customers cars even though it wasn’t his fault. He told me to never drive something that you would feel bad crashing because it simply can happen. As unlikely as it is, William said what if the last piece of Skylab falls out of the sky and onto your car, what can you do.
