Mom has a weird idea of what’s a bad neighborhood

Part of my stay in Chicago is with my mom’s childhood friend Monica. Once in the 50 years she has lived here, someone snatched her purse. And my mom witnessed a drug deal going down 40 years ago. Mom told me it’s South side and I need to be real careful, Monica is smack dab in the ghetto.
Turns out my mom thinks ghettos are tree lined streets surrounding the University of Chicago. This place is beautiful. Pictured above is Monica and me walking in the ivy covered U of C quad.
