I never got to a Marriott yesterday. I avoid highways so I could see the more interesting part of our country on the back roads. But chain hotels really love the highway. That’s okay, I found the cute, clean and very inexpensive Parke Bridge Motel in Rockville, Indiana.
I was going to stay in Terre Haute, Indiana, but I accidentally drove through it. While driving through Terre Haute I thought to myself, these must be the suburbs of Terre Haute and soon I should see the skyline. The skyline never happened.
The motel’s owner, a very efficient woman, told me that she prides herself on her motel’s cleanliness and that each room has its own theme. Parke County is famous for wooden covered bridges. That’s the room I got. Now I don’t have to tour today and see the bridges because everyone of them is either pictured or sketched on the wall of my room.
Blow up the below photos and join me on my journey.
