While picking up last-minute supplies I found out Mammath Cave Park is in the middle of a dry county. You could drink but it has to be at a restaurant or bar. It was a real Sophie’s choice but I decided to camp anyway.
I wouldn’t call it a miracle of biblical proportions, yes I would, but the only place you can buy alcohol is at in the Park service center. They even carry Newcastle. I guess Kentucky wants to export all their whiskey and not let the people here drink any.
I’m very lucky. Beautiful weather and for $17 a day I get a few acres to myself with a barbecue pit, a picnic table and a nice flat shady space for my tent.
And where is this park ranger/butler to open your beers??
Somebody had to go fetch the steaks for tonight.
Pretty cool looking camping spot.
It really is and the Rangers couldn’t be any nicer. I’m about to explore as much as I can for the day now and report back.
